COMPRESS IMAGE

Compress images

Shrink photos for email, WhatsApp, a website or a form that says “maximum 200 KB”. You see the before and after weight of each one, and the images never leave your device.

JPG, PNG, WebP or HEIC · several at once

HOW TO USE IT
  1. Add your images (JPG, PNG, WebP or iPhone HEIC).
  2. Choose Recommended, or a limit such as Under 200 KB when a form demands it. Optionally set a maximum size in pixels.
  3. Press Compress images, check the before/after weights and download.
HOW IT WORKS

How each format is compressed

JPG and WebP are re-encoded at the quality level you pick, after removing hidden metadata. With a size limit, CLEKARA searches for the highest quality that fits (seven trial encodings per photo) and only reduces the dimensions if quality alone is not enough.

PNG is reduced the way pngquant and TinyPNG do it: the image is converted to a palette of up to 256 carefully chosen colors with gentle dithering, keeping transparency. Screenshots and graphics often shrink by 60–80 % and still look identical. If any result would weigh more than your original, you get the original back.

LIMITS

Worth knowing

Compression with loss cannot be undone: keep your originals. Location and camera metadata are removed from the compressed copies.

A size limit with transparency produces WebP (or a smaller-palette PNG on Safari, which cannot create WebP).

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do I reduce a photo to under 200 KB?

Choose Under 200 KB in Compression and press Compress images. The quality is lowered just enough and, if needed, the dimensions too.

Will the image look worse?

With Recommended the difference is very hard to see at normal size. Strong and very small limits show more artefacts.

Can I compress PNG without turning it into JPG?

Yes. Leave the format as Same as the original: PNG stays PNG, with transparency, using a reduced color palette.

How many images at once?

Up to 120. Download them individually or in a ZIP.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Everything runs in your browser.
