HOW TO USE IT
  1. Open the PDF.
  2. Keep Ignore tiny images to skip icons and decorations.
  3. Press Extract images and download them or the ZIP.
HOW IT WORKS

The original files, not copies

A PDF stores each photo as an object inside the file, usually as a JPEG. CLEKARA reads those objects directly and saves the JPEG bytes unchanged, so the photo has exactly the quality and resolution with which it was put into the PDF.

Images stored in other ways (lossless, fax-style black and white, JBIG2, with transparency) are decoded by PDF.js and saved as PNG without loss. An image used on several pages is saved only once.

LIMITS

Worth knowing

Vector drawings, charts and text are not images and cannot be extracted this way; to get a page as a picture use PDF to JPG or PDF to PNG.

In a scanned PDF each page is one large image: you will get one image per page.

Do the images lose quality?

No. JPEG photos are saved byte for byte as they are in the PDF; the rest are saved as lossless PNG.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The images are extracted inside your browser.
