Compress a photo to under 1 MB
Phone photos weigh 3–8 MB, while many forms, school platforms, email attachments and chat apps that keep quality ask for images under 1 MB. The 1 MB limit is already selected below: drop your photos and download them ready to upload.
Drop the images you want to compress
JPG, PNG, WebP or HEIC · several at once
- Drop one or more photos onto the box, or press the button to choose them. JPG, PNG, WebP and iPhone HEIC photos are accepted.
- Leave the compression at under 1 MB. Keep the output as JPG if the image is for a form.
- Press the button to process them, check the before and after weight of each one, and download them one by one or in a ZIP.
How it reaches 1 MB
1 MB keeps a phone photo at its full resolution in most cases, with no visible difference: the savings come from smarter encoding, not from making the picture smaller. Only very large or very detailed photos get a slightly lower resolution.
The limit is counted strictly: 1 MB means 1,000,000 bytes, so the file is accepted whether the website counts in thousands or in 1,024s.
What it cannot do
Very small limits force a lower resolution: a photo cannot keep 12 megapixels in 50 KB. If an image could only reach the target by becoming unrecognizable, you get the smallest reasonable version and a note saying so.
