Objects, not pictures of pages
The easy way to “convert” a PDF to PowerPoint is to paste a picture of each page on a slide. It looks identical and you cannot change a single word. CLEKARA does the opposite: it reads the text, the tables and the images the PDF contains and places each one as a separate PowerPoint object, at the same position and size.
Each paragraph becomes a text box with its font size, bold and italic. Helvetica and Times are mapped to Arial and Times New Roman, which have the same widths, so lines break where they broke in the PDF. Tables drawn with lines become real PowerPoint tables, and pictures are placed as pictures. The slide takes the size of the PDF page.
What it will not do
A PDF does not remember the shapes, themes or animations of the presentation it came from: it only stores the drawing. Rectangles, coloured backgrounds, icons and charts drawn as vector graphics are not rebuilt as PowerPoint shapes, and you are told when a PDF contains them. Expect to add backgrounds and decorative elements again.
Text keeps its size and position, but uncommon fonts are replaced by Arial, Times New Roman or Courier New. A scanned PDF has no text at all; CLEKARA stops and explains instead of producing slides that are only pictures.
Frequently asked questions
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. The PDF is read in memory and the presentation is built by code running in this tab. Nothing is sent to a CLEKARA server.
Can I edit the text?
Yes. Every paragraph is a normal PowerPoint text box, and tables are PowerPoint tables. Nothing is flattened into a picture unless it was a picture in the PDF.
Why are some backgrounds or shapes missing?
Because the PDF stores them as drawing instructions, not as shapes. CLEKARA tells you when a document contains them, so you know what to add again.
Will a PDF exported from PowerPoint come back the same?
The text, the tables and the pictures come back editable and in place. The theme, the master slides, the animations and the transitions are not stored in a PDF, so they cannot be recovered.
What size are the slides?
The size of the PDF page: a 16:9 export gives 16:9 slides, and an A4 document gives A4 slides.
