Compress a photo to under 500 KB
Marketplaces, online stores, blogs and many forms ask for images under 500 KB so pages load fast and uploads do not fail. The 500 KB limit is already selected below: drop your photos and download them ready to upload.
Drop the images you want to compress
JPG, PNG, WebP or HEIC · several at once
- Drop one or more photos onto the box, or press the button to choose them. JPG, PNG, WebP and iPhone HEIC photos are accepted.
- Leave the compression at under 500 KB. Keep the output as JPG if the image is for a form.
- Press the button to process them, check the before and after weight of each one, and download them one by one or in a ZIP.
How it reaches 500 KB
500 KB keeps a full-HD photo with practically no visible loss. It is the right target for product photos, real-estate listings and images for your own website.
The limit is counted strictly: 500 KB means 500,000 bytes, so the file is accepted whether the website counts in thousands or in 1,024s.
What it cannot do
Very small limits force a lower resolution: a photo cannot keep 12 megapixels in 50 KB. If an image could only reach the target by becoming unrecognizable, you get the smallest reasonable version and a note saying so.
Frequently asked questions
Will my photo lose its location data?
Yes, and that is on purpose: the compressed image is re-encoded without GPS location or camera data, which is safer when you publish it.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. They are processed by your browser and never sent to a server.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, including iPhone HEIC photos straight from the gallery.
Can I pick a different limit?
Yes. Choose another option in Compression, or “Custom maximum weight” to type any value in KB.
