Read a QR code
Scan a QR code from a screenshot or a photo on your computer, or with your camera, and see exactly what it contains before you open anything.
Drop a photo or screenshot of the QR code
or pick an image from your device · you can also paste it with Ctrl+V
The image and the camera are analyzed on your device: nothing is sent. Links never open by themselves.
- Drop a photo or screenshot that contains the code, paste it with Ctrl+V, or press Scan with the camera.
- CLEKARA finds the code and shows what it contains: a link with its real domain, a Wi-Fi network, a contact, a phone number…
- Copy the content, save the contact or open the link once you have checked it.
Look before you open
QR codes are used for scams precisely because you cannot see where they lead. This reader never opens anything on its own: it shows the full address and highlights the real domain, so “bank-secure-login.example” is easy to spot.
On Chrome for Android and Mac, the system's own barcode detector is used, which also reads ordinary barcodes. Elsewhere, the jsQR decoder analyses the image at several sizes and in inverted colors, which rescues blurry photos and light-on-dark codes.
Worth knowing
Very blurry, tiny or heavily distorted codes may not be readable; a closer, sharper photo usually solves it.
The camera needs your permission and an up-to-date browser. Without a camera, upload a photo instead.
