What you see in Excel is what gets printed
Excel stores a date as a number — the 17th of September 2025 is 45917 — and a price as 1234.5. What turns them into “17/09/2025” and “1,234.50” is the cell’s format. CLEKARA reads those formats from the workbook and applies them, with the decimal and thousands separators of the language of this page, so the PDF shows the values the way Excel shows them instead of a column of raw serial numbers.
Column widths, merged cells, bold and italic text and the used range of each sheet are kept. When a table crosses a page, its header row is repeated at the top of the next one. Hidden rows, hidden columns and hidden sheets are left out, just as Excel leaves them out when printing.
What it will not do
A PDF cannot calculate. Formulas appear with the last result Excel saved in the file; if a workbook was produced by a program that never calculated it, those cells come out empty and you are told how many.
Charts, pictures, conditional formatting colours, cell fills and custom print areas are not reproduced. Very wide sheets are printed in landscape and, if needed, with smaller text; the PDF says by how much.
The PDF uses the built-in PDF fonts, which cover English, Spanish and the other Western European languages but not Cyrillic, Greek or Asian scripts. Old .xls files (Excel 97–2003) are a different, binary format: save them as .xlsx first.
Frequently asked questions
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. The workbook is read in memory and the PDF is built by code running in this tab. Nothing is sent to a CLEKARA server.
Are formulas recalculated?
No. The PDF shows the result Excel stored the last time the file was saved. If a value looks out of date, open the workbook in Excel, save it and convert it again.
Are all sheets included?
Every visible sheet, one after another. Hidden sheets are skipped and you are told how many.
My sheet is very wide. What happens?
It is printed in landscape. If it still does not fit, the text is reduced so that every column appears on the page, and the result tells you the percentage.
Can I convert an .xls or .csv file?
Only .xlsx. Save an .xls or a .csv as .xlsx in Excel, LibreOffice or Google Sheets and convert that file.
