Add a watermark to a PDF
Stamp “CONFIDENTIAL”, “DRAFT”, your name or your logo on every page, see exactly how it looks on the real page, and download the marked PDF.
Drop the PDF you want to watermark
or pick a file from your device
- Open the PDF. The preview shows its first page.
- Type the text — or choose Image and upload your logo — and set the size, transparency, angle and position. Repeat as a tile covers the whole page.
- Check the preview, press Add watermark and download the PDF.
A real preview, and a watermark that stays sharp
The preview is the real page with the watermark already applied, drawn by the same engine that creates the download, so what you see is what you get — on portrait, landscape and rotated pages alike.
Text watermarks are written as vector text with real transparency: they stay sharp when printed and barely add to the file size. Text in alphabets the standard PDF fonts do not cover is drawn as a high-resolution image instead.
Behind the content places the mark under the document's own text, so it reads like a background — the classic look for drafts and copies.
Worth knowing
A watermark added this way discourages copying and identifies the document, but anyone with an editing program could remove it. For real protection, add a password with Protect PDF.
On scanned documents the page is a picture, so a watermark placed behind the content is hidden by it; leave it in front.
Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first.
Frequently asked questions
How do I add a watermark to a PDF?
Open it here, type the text (or upload a logo), adjust size and transparency, and press Add watermark.
Can I use my logo?
Yes. Choose Image and upload a PNG or JPG. PNG with a transparent background looks best.
Can I put the watermark on some pages only?
Yes. Under Pages choose Only these and type them, for example 1-3, 8.
Will it cover the text?
Not with a low transparency, and you can also place it behind the content so the text stays on top.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. Everything happens inside this browser tab.
