How to make a Wi-Fi QR code
Instead of spelling out a 20-character password to every visitor, print a QR code: they point the camera at it and the phone joins the network.
What you need
The exact network name (SSID), the password and the security type — almost always WPA/WPA2/WPA3. You can see the name in your phone's Wi-Fi list and the password on the router label or in its settings page.
Create the code
Open the QR code generator, choose Wi-Fi, type the name and password and keep WPA. The preview is tested automatically by reading it back; when it says it scans correctly, download the PNG to print or the SVG for a designer.
Android and iPhone cameras recognize Wi-Fi codes natively and offer to join the network.
Printing it so it works
Keep dark modules on a light background, leave the white margin around the code and print it at least 3 × 3 cm for a table card, larger for a wall. Glossy paper behind glass can cause reflections; matte works better.
Security
The password travels inside the code, readable by any phone that scans it — and by anyone who reads the code with an app like our QR code reader. For a shop or office, put guests on a separate guest network and print the code for that one.
